Some nights just call for a good burger, and I was excited to give the highly-rated Ziggy’s Eatery a go. Walking in, the neon bright décor screamed of casual dining, which is exactly what all burger joints should be, and the menu was simple with a handful of burger options along with sides and salads.

From the get-go, it was easy to see (and taste) why this place is so well-received. The burgers were sizeable but affordable, and while simple, were full of fresh and high-quality ingredients. My Chilli burger was spot-on and I particularly enjoyed the Chipotle-Serrano chilli sauce, which was toned down slightly by the creamy aioli. K’s Cheese burger was also a great classic, with the smokiness of the cheese sauce adding a new twist. I really loved the brioche buns, which were one of the best I’ve ever tasted. One thing to note though, which I’ve seen mentioned by a few other diners, was that the burgers were quite messy to eat – it’s not something I minded in particular, but may put others off.

As for the sides, I loved the sauce on the fries, which really made them stand out. I have to say I was a little disappointed with the onion rings though – the crumbing made them a bit on the dry side, and they weren’t very crunchy at all – not the best for me.

Overall, I really liked Ziggy’s Eatery – if I lived closer, it’d probably be my go-to burger place. It’s definitely one of the better burger joints in Melbourne, so if you’re curious, I would highly recommend!
