1810 Malvern Rd Malvern East, VIC 3145
After a long morning of house hunting, K and I dropped by Little Chloe for a welcome break and some lunch. A large, open café with an Asian-inspired menu, it offers some interesting food choices/flavour combinations that we were keen to try.
The coffee was pretty standard, not terrible but not great either.
This sounded like quite an interesting combination of elements so I decided to give it a go. It looked great, the smoked salmon was very fresh and the egg was poached well. Unfortunately, I wasn’t a huge fan of all of the elements together, especially the fetta with the chutney – they were both quite strong and didn’t complement each other. The potato rosti had a great crispy outer layer but I actually found the inside very floury and gluey, which was disappointing.
This was a really great, fresh salad with a lot of crunch and a very delicious dressing. The beef erred on the side of overcooked and could have done with more seasoning, but otherwise, a good dish.
Little Chloe’s not a bad place for brunch/lunch or a coffee stop and the menu is quite different, but considering how many excellent cafes there are in Melbourne, there’s nothing that will draw me back to this one.
