132 Lower Marsh Waterloo, London SE1 7AE
This quirky little café was the location of choice for K and I when we decided to catch up with a friend who was also completing his elective in London.
From the outside, it had the appearance of a Vespa workshop, while the interior was no less strange – a mismatched assortment of furniture, art and scooter memorabilia filled the space. The staff were very friendly and more than happy to let us chat away over some coffee and cake.
Not bad for a cup of coffee in London – just very slightly burnt.
I really like the banana/choc cake, which was fluffy and not-too-sweet. The muffin was a tad on the dry side, but still tasty with some tea on the side.
We ended up having a very lovely catch-up at Scooter Caffe. The atmosphere and décor were very interesting, although they could do with investing in some more comfortable chairs. Also, do bear in mind that they don’t serve food – just drinks and cakes – so if you’re looking for anything more than a light snack then you may need to look elsewhere. Otherwise, they serve a decent cup of coffee and would be perfect for some afternoon tea if you’re in the Waterloo area.
