Prahran has just scored itself a new and exciting Mexican restaurant, with a beautiful, spacious interior perfect for groups and events, and a share-style menu that delivers a fresh take on traditional Mexican cuisine.
There’s a large bar facing the entrance serving a comprehensive selection of beers, cocktails and wine. I’d definitely recommend Tommy’s Margarita, which is less sweet than the original, or for a non-alcoholic option, the homemade grapefruit soda is both fresh and delicious.
Ever since I discovered the existence (and deliciousness) of taramasalata, I’ve been on a massive Greek food streak. From Jimmy Grants to Stalactites, I’ve chosen pita over dumplings at every turn. The most recent of my Mediterranean adventures was at Bahari, a popular and highly rated restaurant in Richmond serving delicious ‘Gringlish’ food. They have a banquet menu as well as a la carte, which changes frequently to include specials.
Over the past few years, Benjamin Cooper and his conglomerate of restaurants have gone from strength to strength, opening up in numerous venues throughout Melbourne. K and I decided to pay Kong a visit – we’d previously had an underwhelming experience there in the past, but thought we’d give it another chance to blow us away.
The Kettle Black is one of Melbourne’s most trendy brunch institutions, instantly recognisable from its signature Victorian terrace exterior that stands out amongst the modern, glass surroundings. From the same family as the likes of Top Paddock (a personal favourite), and Two Birds One Stone, I definitely had high expectations when I ventured there for lunch one lazy weekend. As anticipated, there was a substantial queue, but luckily a coffee stand outside provided a hot drink while we waited.
Everyone has a different preference when it comes to chocolate brownies – I’m personally a fudgy brownie kind of girl, and nothing irks me more than a super dry, cakey brownie that’s lost all of its rich chocolatey-ness.
I’ve tried many different recipes over the years to achieve the right chewy texture while maintaining structural integrity. After a lot of tweaking and countless failed experiments, I’ve finally come up with a recipe that delivers a batch of perfect fudgy chocolate brownies, complete with that crispy, flakey layer on top.
